Synthflow Secures $7.4M for No-Code Voice Assistance for SMEs

Berlin-based startup Synthflow has raised $7.4 million in seed funding for its no-code platform, which provides AI voice assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This brings the total funding to $9.1 million since its founding last year.

The company has seen significant growth, with over 1,000 customers and double-digit monthly growth rates since its browser-based tool was launched in December 2023. This demonstrates a strong appetite among SMEs to adopt generative AI tools that promise productivity gains.

The new funding will be invested in research and development to enhance the product's utility and broaden its appeal to more SMEs. Synthflow's CEO and co-founder, Hakob Astabatsyan, emphasized the need to keep innovating to stay ahead of the curve.

Synthflow's platform targets service industry-focused SMEs, offering an "end-to-end" experience. The goal is to automate core tasks like appointment scheduling, allowing humans to focus on higher-value tasks. The system can handle inbound calls, extract information, and update customer relationship management (CRM) systems.

Astabatsyan believes that AI can help SMEs be more productive and efficient, but stresses that the goal is not to replace human jobs. The platform is designed to be accessible to non-technical users, with a no-code interface that lets customers configure voice agents to fit their business needs.

Synthflow's system uses OpenAI's GPT large language model, but also incorporates its own AI models fine-tuned to specific customer use cases. The platform converts customer speech into text, which is then fed to the AI model, returning an automated answer that is converted back into speech.

For now, the focus is on using AI with inbound calls, but the company hints at exploring more use cases in the future.
